Texas Game Warden Association Fishing Tournament
Tournament Rules:
- The tournament is open to all anglers with a valid fishing license.
- Official tournament hours are from 6:00 a. m. to 5:00 p. m. the day of the tournament, rain or shine.
- Wade, bank, surf, jetties, pier or any legal means of fishing is permissible; however, NO SAIL LINES OR TROTLINES are permitted.
- Official weigh-in starts at 3:00 p.m. and ends at 5:00 p. m. the day of the tournament at The Roberts Point Pavilion. All anglers must be IN LINE before 5 p.m.
- Cash payouts for 1st, 2nd, & 3rd places in each of the following categories: Redfish, Speckled Trout & Black Drum
- Each angler may pick ONE category to weigh in ONE fish. Anglers MAY NOT enter more than one category. NO OVERSIZED REDFISH OR BLACK DRUM WILL BE WEIGHED, TAGGED OR NOT. Heaviest fish wins.
- In the case of a tie, winner will be decided by length. If length is equal, winner will be decided by time with the winner being the first fish weighed in.
Eligibility:
- All anglers must have a valid fishing license.
- Professional guides as defined by Texas Parks and Wildlife Department ARE NOT PERMITTED. Any angler found to have fished in the company of a professional fishing guide during tournament hours WILL be disqualified from any and all prizes. “TPWD defines a professional guide as a person who, for compensation, accompanies, assists or transports a person or persons engaged in fishing in the waters of this state.”
- All anglers must be 12 years of age or older.
- All state and federal penal code and game laws shall apply at all times.
- All Texas, coastguard and State Parks and Wildlife regulations shall apply at all times.
- Each angler must be a paid entrant of the tournament and must abide by all tournament rules and regulations.
- Tournament directors retain the right to refuse any entry.
Weigh-in/Sportsmanship:
- All fish weighed in and entered must be caught during official tournament hours on the day of the tournament.
- All fish presented for weigh-in will be monitored for freshness and will be inspected by a Texas Game Warden.
- NO OVER SIZED RED DRUM OR BLACK DRUM WILL BE WEIGHED, TAGGED OR NOT!
- All fish must be weighed-in by the entrant who originally caught the fish and must be in that entrant’s physical possession at the time of weigh-in.
- Sportsmanship, courtesy, safety and conservation are expected from all entrants.
- All game laws of the state of Texas, applicable to fishing on public waters, must be followed. Any violations will be cause for immediate disqualification. Any and all winnings will be forfeited.
- Any and all winners may be subject to polygraph testing at the discretion of the TGWA Board of Directors.
- Any entrant found to be in violation of any tournament rules and regulations will be subject to disqualification from this tournament and all future tournaments.
ALL DECISIONS OF THE TOURNAMENT DIRECTORS AND WEIGH MASTER ARE FINAL.
Registration and entry fee:
- Entry for all eligible anglers is $60.00.
- Active members of the Game Warden association will have $10.00 waived from their entry fee.
- Entry fees must be mailed to the address below no later than May 28, 2010.
- Absolutely no refund of entry fees will be issued.
- Any entry received after the May 28, 2010 deadline will be $75.00. NO EXCEPTIONS!
Liability:
T.G.W.A Directors and the City of Port Aransas Parks Department are not liable for any accidents, injuries, losses or mishaps.
